Awards 2007
 The
Outstanding Educator Award
recognizes outstanding achievement and excellence in
classroom service to students with behavior disorders.
Cathy C. Sheridan, Santa Fe Elementary School, Shawnee
Mission Public Schools, Overland Park, Kansas, was the
2007 recipient of the Outstanding Educator Award. Ms.
Sheridan was presented with a plaque that read -
In recognition
of Cathy's excellence in teaching students with behavior
disorders, her advocacy for students and families,
and the innovative programs she creates for children
in her classroom.

 The
Outstanding Leadership Award recognizes outstanding
service and leadership to the field of behavioral disorders
on a national level. Robert H. Zabel, Professor
Emeritus, Kansas State University, was the 2007 recipient
of the Outstanding Leadership Award. Dr. Zabel's plaque
included -
If
your actions inspire others to dream more, learn
more, laugh more, do more and become more, you are
a leader.

 The
Outstanding Advocacy Award recognizes outstanding
advocacy on behalf of students with behavioral disorders.
Kari Ramos, Parent Advocate Topeka, Kansas, was
the 2007 recipient of the Outstanding Advocacy Award.
Mrs. Ramos was honored -
For
her tireless efforts and dedication to families and
children with disabilities.

 The
Building Bridges: Seeds for Program Development Grant
is given to support activities and programs to improve educational
programs for student with behavioral disorders. Christina
Kennedy, Educational Director, and DaShaunda Patterson,
Teacher, of Hillside Conant School, Atlanta, Georgia, were
the 2007 recipients of the Building Bridges Grant.

Also recognized at the 2007 Awards Banquet were former members
of the MSLBD Planning Committee. These individuals were
recognized for their for longstanding service and contributions.
