attendance at MSLBD, which was been at in the range of 1,200-1,660
for the five years from 1999 to 2004. Sustained attendance;
willingness of presenters to present; continued involvement
of variety of folk in planning committee; continued support
and cooperation of agencies all reflect the success of MSLBD.
Although the largest number of attendees continues to be from
the four founding states (Iowa, Kansas Missouri & Nebraska),
attendees are drawn from across the U.S. and even some foreign
countries (Australia, Canada and England). The 2003 conference
had attendees from 28 states. It should be noted that for a
few years, attendance was actually limited by the room capacity-
in 2000 and 2001 some individuals who tried to register were
actually turned away to meet fire codes in the hotel space.
