Who Are We?

What is Meant by Leadership?

It was also always clear that the MSLBD was intended for anyone who was willing to think about educating students with behavioral disorders. Leadership did not imply a job category; a person in any role could be a leader in this field! This was well expressed in the language of the welcome which appeared in the first program of the MSLBD held in February 1983:

[MSLBD is] "... a forum for the examination of many important issues facing educators serving behavior disordered students. Specifically the Symposium will focus on issues of concern to leadership for the field of behavior disorders from the point of view of leading writers, researchers and thinkers, regional leaders, and local practitioners. It is our hope that in the Symposium, educators will gain new insights, establish professional contacts, and obtain new perspectives to view future problems in dealing with children and youth with behavior disorders"
