Who Are We?

Mission Statement

The Midwest Symposium for Leadership in Behavior Disorders fosters professional and family leadership that improves the lives of children and youth with emotional/behavioral disorders or related behavioral challenges.

Sharon, Lisa, Eleanor (2004)

To accomplish its mission, the Midwest Symposium for Leadership in Behavioral Disorders actively engages in:

a. Professional Development (e.g., research-based best practices in the classroom and teacher preparation)
b. Support excellence in leadership in EBD field through intellectual stimulation, honoring our history and networking
c. Outreach (e.g., direct collaboration with other fields such as mental health, juvenile justice or outreach to teachers and others unable to attend conferences) (diversity focus)
d. Advocacy (e.g., encouraging personal and policy advocacy on behalf of families, students, educators and others serving students with EBD)
e. Research and Dissemination (e.g., generation of new research and conveyance of best practices, "From research to practice")
